My academic portfolio features a detailed socio-cultural analysis of the music and message of Bad Bunny, a project I selected as a representative study of a contemporary cultural product. This analysis goes beyond surface-level entertainment to demonstrate how artistic expressions can actively subvert traditional norms and address systemic social issues, including entrenched gender roles, machismo, and political inequality. By evaluating both the progressive impact of his work and the common criticisms regarding its explicit nature and commercialization, I showcased my ability to synthesize multiple interpretations. This exercise reinforced my understanding that cultural products are powerful mirrors of modern identity, particularly within the Latin American diaspora, and that the tension between individual expression and collective values often shapes their meaning.

In addition to analyzing cultural products, I have explored the profound significance of cultural practices, specifically through the lens of food and communal rituals. Applying theoretical frameworks established by UNESCO and the anthropological insights of Harry West, I conducted a deep dive into the concept of "shared eating" as a performative act of community and belonging. This reflection allowed me to bridge the gap between academic theory and personal experience, drawing on my own background in a Hispanic household where collective meals serve as a primary vehicle for tradition and social cohesion. This study highlighted how routine practices, as simple as sitting at a table, are deeply rooted in cultural values and serve as the foundational architecture for maintaining relationships and preserving heritage across generations.
